American actress Ellen Pompeo (full name: Ellen Kathleen Pompeo), best known for portraying the lead role, Meredith Grey, on the ABC medical drama "Grey's Anatomy", is rumored to have had plastic surgery to maintain her youthful appearance.
Has Grey’s Anatomy Star Ellen Pompeo Had Her Own Surgery?
On TV, she plays brilliant surgeon Meredith Grey, but has Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo gone under the knife in real life?
Ellen Pompeo, 42, appeared incredibly puffy-faced when she was out in Los Angeles last week, with hamster cheeks that were a startling contrast to her formerly thin physique.
PHOTOS: Ellen Pompeo Looks A Little Fuller In The Face
“Ellen Pompeo’s cheeks look puffy,” celebrity surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not treated the star, told us in an exclusive interview, but added that he thinks she opted for injectables over intrusive surgery.
“It’s possible she may have had some filler injections into her cheeks,” he explained.
“Steroid treatment for a recent illness could cause this appearance as well,” Dr. Youn added.
“I hope her health is good, and she’s just a little swollen from the plastic surgeon’s needle, since steroid treatments are usually not a good thing,” he warned.
There are rumors floating around the web that Pompeo, 43, has had botox injections and facial fillers like Juvederm.
To be more exact, in 2012 Pompeo appeared extremely puffy-faced when she was out in Los Angeles, with full cheeks that were a noticeable contrast to her formerly small frame.
"Ellen Pompeo's cheeks look puffy," celebrity surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not treated the star, was quoted as saying, adding she likely opted for injectables over radical surgery.
"It's possible she may have had some filler injections into her cheeks," Dr. Youn explained.
"Steroid treatment for a recent illness could cause this appearance as well," Dr. Youn revealed.
"I hope her health is good, and she's just a little swollen from the plastic surgeon's needle, since steroid treatments are usually not a good thing," Dr. Youn claimed.
Judging by her recent photos, the natural lines on her forehead and around her eyes are also visible, which shows that Pompeo made a smart choice to not overdone her face to the point that it stops having any facial expression, making her botox results seem more natural.
Conclusion: The truth is that Ellen's face (lips and cheeks) appears a little fuller than before, which is either the result of weight gain or a filler like Juvederm. Although her forehead never wrinkles (only natural lines), her brows get a wrinkle when distraught. So, it is apparent that she could be using botox, but it is not distributed in all areas of her face to allow for some expression. In any case, the results are so natural that is hard to tell if she is aging naturally or gets botox injections and fillers.
'Her movie career did not take off!' Ellen Pompeo is brutally honest about former Grey's Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl
She recently celebrated her 200th episode playing Dr Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy.
And Ellen Pompeo opened up about her former co-stars Katherine Heigl and Isaiah Washington, who both exited the ABC series amidst controversy.
Washington's contract was famously not renewed in 2007 following his repeated use of homophobic slurs.
And Heigl, who scored an Emmy as Dr Izzie Stevens, dissed the writing on the Shonda Rhimes medical drama back in 2008.
